The Junior Fermentation Scientist will be part of a team supporting research and development and day-to-day operations of Colorifix’s proprietary processes, involving fermentation at the R+D facility in Norwich or the pilot scale site in Cambridge. As part of the Colorifix cross-site Fermentation Team this role will involve excellent communication of plans, results and tech transfer to colleagues across sites. The role requires a sound knowledge of fermentation processes (batch, fed-batch, continuous), high competency in aseptic technique and the handling and management of Class 1 genetically modified bacteria and yeast. The Junior Fermentation Scientist will also be responsible for the coordination of experiments using small scale fermenters. The position will require close working with other Divisions to coordinate fermentation derived work packages in active projects.
Assigned tasks will include, preparation and characterisation of working/master cell banks and seed trains, all aspects of running a fermenter and data collection, underpinned with quality control measures. The Junior Fermentation Scientist will also contribute to the maintenance and efficient running of the fermentation suite, with good laboratory practice. The nature of the work will mean that from time to time this may include working over a weekend and with flexible hours and occasionally at Colorifix’s Norwich site.
